Can you really ever get the timing of your life right?

Have you ever felt like you missed out on something by five minutes, or maybe five lifetimes?

Life is a series of sliding door moments. What if we didn't do this and did do that and hadn't turned left and went there instead and maybe bought this and perhaps said that... We make many small decisions every day that change the course of our lives, and we don't notice because they seem so normal and inconsequential.

But everything is consequential.

In our modern world, we see time as a linear construct; a straight line marked by seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years... we build our lives around allocating this time to certain things; marking the hours, days, events, on our calendars. We remember dates, and perhaps even the minute, special and wondrous things happened, and tragic and hopeless things took place. Time marches along without our permission, taking us, sometimes dragging us, further into the future. We fill in our time, and sometimes life fills it in for us, and it seems unplanned, coincidental, fated, mean, magical, tragic, wonderful and cruel, sometimes all the same time.

Is Divine timing a thing? Do we wait for God? Is God waiting for us? Does God fill in our time, or is it up to us to fill in Gods time with right living? How does it work, and when will you know that you've gotten it right so you can keep it up and make the most of your time?

The idea that some moments are more important than others is a construct of our delegation. "God's perfect timing" is too often a phrase and a concept used to cover-up and distract us from what we can't explain, or what is too hard to process, or the fear of the unknown and the unlabelled. If it's up to God, then it's not up to us, and we don't have to take ownership of the time that takes place in between the wanting and the receiving.

But when every moment is sacred, nothing needs a label. Not really. There are no moments that are not meaningful, that can't change your life, or better worded: there are no moments that can't make your life. The only way you can really be in the right place at the right time is to be where you are.

This is a lesson that Esther - from the Hebrew Bible - learned, and over the next few days, I'm going to ruin her story for you in all the beautiful ways, and show you that there is still time and you haven't missed out. Not even close.

LISTEN: Life is abundant. There is still time. You haven't missed out. Not even close. Life is grace. Relax. Take YOUR time. It is yours to take.
